Her passion for nursing was inspired by her mother, Betty Joyce Jones Lockett, who was a nurse and a single parent. Despite the challenges, her mother managed to get straight As with only four hours of sleep, which motivated Jeanette to follow in her footsteps.
She continued her education at Texas Tech University, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 2007. She further pursued her education at the University of Texas Arlington, where she obtained her Master of Science in Nursing degree and Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Board Certification in 2016. Most recently, she earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Chamberlain University in 2020.
On a professional level, Jeanette is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.
Gerontology is the study of the social, cultural, psychological, cognitive, and biological aspects of aging. A Board-Certified Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP-BC) is a specialized acute care nurse practitioner who cares for adult patients with critical conditions.
