Originally from India, he earned his medical degree from the Maulana Azad Medical College in 1990. After relocating to the United States, he completed his residency in internal medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine in 1994, and was a visiting fellow at the Laboratory of Molecular Cardiology at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. Later, he completed his fellowship in cardiovascular disease at George Washington University in 1998, followed by a fellowship in interventional cardiology at the Feinberg Medical School in 1999.

A Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), the doctor is board-certified in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, nuclear cardiology, CT angiography, and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Prior to joining Mount Sinai-Columbia, Dr. Beohar was an interventional cardiologist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, and an Associate Professor of Medicine at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. He previously was the Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at the Veterans Administration Lakeside Hospital in Chicago.
