Growing up in Irvington, New York (named after the author of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”, Washington Irving), Dr. Hsu attended high school in the Bronx, New York. After completing his undergraduate degree at MIT, he went on to medical school in Ohio at Northeast Ohio Medical University.
Furthering his training, he completed his internship in Akron, Ohio, and went back to New York for a residency in diagnostic radiology at Winthrop University Hospital on Long Island. Dr. Hsu then completed a highly competitive abdominal imaging fellowship at UC San Francisco Medical Center.
Board-certified in diagnostic radiology, he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR is a not-for-profit physician-led organization that oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.
To boot, Dr. Hsu is a Diplomate of the American Board of Magnetic Resonance Safety (ABMRS). The ABMRS is a not-for-profit corporation whose purpose is to improve the safety of medical and research magnetic resonance (MR) environments by certifying that the clinical, physicist, technical, and research diplomates have the necessary a) basic science knowledge of the underlying safety principles and b) decision-making capabilities to apply them, that are required of those who are assigned to ensure safety in MR environments.
