(WorldFrontNews Editorial):- Chenzhou, Hunan May 15, 2026 – From May 15 , the 14th China (Hunan) International Mineral & Gem Expo (hereinafter referred to as the “Mineral & Gem Expo”) officially opened at the Chenzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center. Under the theme “Dinosaurs Soaring to the Sky — The Mineral Crystal Kingdom of the Dinosaur World,” this year’s expo spans approximately 60,000 square meters and features 1,200 international-standard booths. The exhibition is divided into four major sections: mineral crystals, fossils, and meteorites; colored gemstones; handicrafts; and ornamental stones.
According to the organizers, a total of 612 exhibitors are participating in this year’s expo, including 540 domestic exhibitors and 72 overseas exhibitors. International participants come from more than 20 countries and regions, including the United States, Russia, and Pakistan.
The largest exhibit at the expo is the Tianyanzhiminglong skeleton, measuring 39.8 meters in length and 15.9 meters in height. The dinosaur specimen is estimated to have weighed over 70 tons during its lifetime, making it currently the largest mounted dinosaur skeleton in China. Surrounding the centerpiece are a number of medium and small-scale exhibits displayed in a staggered arrangement, including rare treasures such as the world’s amber-encased fossil of a fanbird and other rare treasures are on display .
In addition to exhibitions and trading activities, this year’s Mineral & Gem Expo features seven themed events. Among them, the no-reserve mineral crystal auction is scheduled for the afternoon of May 16. Continuing its open no-reserve bidding format, all auction items will be offered without reserve prices. Last year, the event generated nearly RMB 100,000 in total transactions.
This year’s expo also introduces three new service models for the first time: “Expo + Warehousing” “Expo + Logistics” and “Expo + Finance”. Overseas exhibitors can enjoy free pre-exhibition warehousing and long-term post-exhibition storage services. A “door-to-venue” integrated logistics system provides full-process support, including rapid customs clearance for cross-border exhibits and on-site loading and unloading services. Meanwhile, Bank of Hunan has established a service counter on the second floor of the exhibition hall, staffed with English-speaking personnel to provide exhibitors with one-stop financial services such as account settlement, foreign exchange purchase, and remittance services.
Leveraging the Mineral & Gem Expo platform, this year’s event has attracted broader and higher-level international participation. A high-level delegation from Oman’s government and business sectors traveled specially to Chenzhou to attend the expo and conduct in-depth economic and trade exchanges. The delegation includes representatives from government departments, royal enterprises, energy and mining companies, as well as investment and trade organizations. Also visiting during the same period are guests including a secretary from the Embassy of Uganda in China and the president of the Zambia Gemstone Integrated Traders Association.
The organizing committee has also planned a series of themed cultural and tourism routes around the expo, linking attractions such as the Feitian Mountain Danxia landform, Dongjiang Lake’s clear waters and green landscapes, the industrial heritage sites of Baoshan Mining Park, and the nonferrous metal mines of Shizhuyuan into an integrated cultural tourism chain, creating a one-stop experience themed around “Visit the Expo, Admire Mineral Crystals, Explore Chenzhou.”
