Supporting Patients and Families Through Neurological Illness and Life Transitions with Compassionate, Client-Centered Care
(WorldFrontNews Editorial):- Huntington, New York May 2, 2026 (Issuewire.com) – Lucia Jamaluddin, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and private practice psychotherapist dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate the complex challenges of neurological illness and life transitions. With more than a decade of experience, Lucia provides compassionate, individualized care through telehealth counseling and case management, ensuring patients and caregivers receive both emotional support and practical guidance.
Lucia specializes in neurology-focused social work, supporting those affected by conditions such as Huntington’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, multiple sclerosis, and ALS. Her work centers on helping patients and families better understand their diagnoses, access appropriate resources, and manage the emotional and logistical demands that accompany chronic illness. She is equally committed to supporting caregivers, recognizing their essential role and helping them build resilience while maintaining their own well-being.
Her approach is grounded in validation, empowerment, and collaboration. Lucia works closely with clients to develop tailored strategies that address their unique circumstances, fostering a sense of control and confidence during uncertain times. By combining therapeutic support with hands-on case management, she bridges the gap between clinical care and real-world application.
Prior to launching her private practice, Lucia spent nearly a decade at NYU Langone as an outpatient neuroscience social worker. In this role, she collaborated with neurologists and subspecialists to provide integrated care for patients with complex neurological conditions. Her experience also includes serving as a program director on a Manhattan nursing home floor specializing in Huntington’s disease, as well as working as a geriatric care manager. In these positions, she partnered with elder-law attorneys and helped families navigate critical systems such as Medicaid and Social Security Disability, further strengthening her comprehensive, systems-based approach.
Lucia earned her Undergraduate Degree from Mount St. Mary College in Newburgh and her Master of Social Work from Stony Brook University in 2012. She remains actively involved in the professional community, serving as secretary and board member of Virginia Ann’s Angels, a nonprofit organization supporting families affected by Huntington’s disease, and participating in the Senior Umbrella Network of Nassau County.
In addition to her clinical work, Lucia is passionate about mentorship and professional development. She provides clinical supervision to LMSWs and LCSWs, guiding them as they expand their practices and refine their clinical skills.
