Rep. Matt Gaetz, the Florida Republican is accused of serious charges like sex trafficking. The Justice Department is investigating the matter. He became the talk of the town when he stepped on Capitol Hill as a conservative firebrand on TV and a steadfast supporter of ex-President Donald Trump. Gaetz had put on quite a show in Congress by sharing the racy details of his numerous illicit relationships with women and nonstop swanking about his sexual adventures to his colleagues.
This time, Gaetz took his bragging about his awe-inspiring life like a fantasy from fiction to another level. He showed off nude and explicit photos of several women who he was sleeping with to other legislators. According to CNN, he showed these humiliation pictures while he was on the House floor. He spoke directly to two people explaining his sexual escapades while showing off nude photos of women he had encountered with. He did not stop bragging about having sex with them. According to the source, he also revealed a video where the girl was using a hula hoop.
“It was a point of pride,” many think after what Gaetz did.
But these pictures are not connected with the massive allegation filed against him. The DOJ investigation might overlook those materials because they don’t have any indication related to the allegation.
Gaetz was elected to Congress in 2016. The 38-year-old’s reputation has been thrown under the bus a couple of times in the recent years of working with Congress. He is the center of many serious controversies. The Justice Department started investigating him in the last few months of the Trump administration under then-Attorney General William Barr.
The Justice Department is looking for evidence if he was ever engaged to a woman that started when she was 17 years old. They are also examining if he ever dealt with other young women who broke federal sex trafficking and prostitution laws.
Gaetz refused it saying, “no part of the allegations against me are true.” On Tuesday, he revealed that he thought he was the victim of an extortion plot.
“Over the past several weeks my family and I have been victims of organized criminal extortion involving a former DOJ official seeking $25 million while threatening to smear my name. We have been cooperating with federal authorities in this matter and my father has even been wearing a wire at the FBI’s direction to catch these criminals,” Gaetz said in a statement.
House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy said if those “serious implications” that DOJ claims are true then would remove Gaetz from the Judiciary Committee.
“I haven’t heard anything from the DOJ or others, but I will deal with it if anything comes to be true,” McCarthy told CNN at an exclusive event in Iowa.
During Gaetz’s first term, he was called to a meeting with then-House Speaker Paul Ryan to discuss professional behaviorism with him.
