Beginning her academic journey at UC San Diego in 1969, Dr. Owens-Collins pursued a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology-Pre-Med, completing her undergraduate studies in 1973. Following this, she joined Baylor College of Medicine and earned her Doctor of Medicine Degree over the course of four years, from June 1973 to June 1977.
Subsequently, Dr. Owens-Collins furthered her education at UCLA, obtaining a Master of Public Health Degree in International and Family Health in 1982. Later on, she pursued an Executive MBA in Business Administration and Management at Rice Business – Jones Graduate School of Business in May of 2003. Board certified in neonatal-perinatal medicine, Dr. Owens-Collins is recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP).
