Spreading the Word

(WorldFrontNews Editorial):- Los Angeles East, California Jun 11, 2023 (Issuewire.com) – NaturaGrow announced today that they will begin FREE Saturday Gardening and Healthy Food Prep Workshops at the Augustus Hawkins Nature Park, starting at 12 noon on June 24th, 2023.   This Historic Park is located at 5790 Compton Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90011.

The first workshop will focus on the “NO COST GARDEN” which utilizes the Natural Agriculture methods discovered during the 1930’s by Mokichi Okada in Japan.  This way of growing the most healthy and nutritious food utilizes no Fertilizers, Herbicides, Fungicides, Worm Castings, or Manure; just the pure seed, pure soil, and the pure heart of the grower along with the natural sun, water, and grass and leaf composting to retain soil moisture.

NaturaGrow® plans for the Augustus Hawkins Nature Park to be first of a series of  Edible Gardens and free Gardening Workshops throughout the networks of Los Angeles City and County Parks, teaching children, youth, and adults about the health and wealth benefits of growing their own veggies, fruits, herbs, and edible flowers, using simple Natural Agriculture methods.  However, NaturaGrow® needs community support to be able to carry out this expansive vision!

Annie Pierce, Co-Founder said, “This is just the beginning, and we are so grateful to the Central Alameda Neighborhood Council for approving our small partial budget of $2500 to start our 8-week Gardening Workshops, and we hope that more Community organizations, churches, and individuals find this vision worthy of their financial support as well, so that we can give the students tools and supplies that they may not be able to afford!”

More on World Front News Stories:

NaturaGrow®  Members, Annie Pierce and Marina Montgomery volunteered in November 2022 to help restore the Augustus Hawkins Nature Park’s Citrus Orchard and Garden Area, which had been abandoned for years after the Staff Caretaker of the Garden retired.  The trees were dying, and the raised beds were all full of weeds.   Now, with the love and care of NaturaGrow®, all of the 30+ Citrus Trees have beautiful leaves and many are growing small baby fruits!  The following Video Interview shares more information about the volunteer work and aspirations for the Augustus Hawkins Nature Park.

“We are very proud of what we’ve accomplished over the past seven months at the Park, and now we are ready to share this wonderful food growing and health information with as many community members who are ready to receive it!”, added Ms. Pierce.
