Harold W. Weist, the author of “Before the Adventure,” is a twenty-year retired Marine Veteran. Born and raised in Findlay, Ohio, Weist joined the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17. Throughout his military service, he had a variety of assignments on
both sides of the ocean, including tours in the Republic of Vietnam. After retiring in 1973, Weist moved to Florida City, Florida, where he worked in nuclear security and retail security. He also volunteered with the Red Cross, teaching first aid and conducting water safety instructor classes. Weist later relocated to Mount Juliet, Tennessee, where he obtained an Associate Degree in Management. He has been actively involved with Veterans Service Organizations, including the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and The Vietnam Veterans of America.
